Babies do not usually need a huge wardrobe. However, that does not mean we can’t dote on them way before the expected delivery. That said, if you are out to find the best apparel for your coming child, these clothing items are essential:

				Onesies 7 to 8			Colder months necessitate clothing that will prevent your child from getting chills, especially in the belly area, and this is when bodysuits come in handy. When buying onesies, pick ones that have stretchable necklines and clips between the legs, these make it easier for you to put the clothes on and off your baby.

				Side-Snap Shirts 7 to 8			Side-snap shirts are secured with snap closures in front. They are ideal for newborn babies because they don’t need to be pulled over your baby’s head, allowing you to easily provide head and neck support to your baby while putting the shirt on.

				Leggings 7 to 8			Look for stretchy waistbands that fit easily over your infants diaper.

				Outerwear 5 to 6			It does not matter if you are thinking of getting jackets, cardigans, or jumpers. What matters is that they can fit one or two more layers of clothing underneath; this will be useful for keeping your baby warm during the winter season. Also, avoid those with ties to prevent the child from choking.

				Beanie 2 to 3			When buying a beanie, choose one without cuffs. This will prevent the beanie from rolling down onto your child’s eyes and face, which can be hazardous when the child is left to play.

				Sunhat 2 to 3			To protect your child from the harsh rays of the sun, getting a sunhat will be beneficial. Just make sure that it is big enough to shade your child’s face from the sun and that it’s washing machine safe.

				Socks 7 to 14			A quick tip – get socks of the same color, so if you lose one, you can easily pair it off with another, saving you time and money.

				Pajamas Sleepers 7 to 8			Avoid sleepwear that requires lots of effort to get on or off. To make it easier to dress and change your baby, select pajamas that have snaps go all the way down the front and down each leg.

				Swaddling Wraps 4 to 6			Swaddling is said to be comforting to babies because it recreates the secure and cozy feeling of the womb.  Studies have proved swaddled babies sleep more peacefully by preventing spontaneous movements (called reflex motion) from waking them up continually. Muslin has a soft, light, open weave that allows air to flow through the material, allow your baby’s body temperature to adjust naturally, eliminating over heating, but ensuring warmth and comfort.

Sizing Chart

Since every newborn baby grows at a different rate, there is no set sizing standard for baby clothes. For this reason, product packaging indicates the size by the age-height-weight of your baby.  As a general guideline, babies tend to  wear one size larger than their actual size, keeping them comfortable and leaving room to grow.

The following sizing chart is an approximate guide only, because clothing manufacturers design clothes differently, it’s best to refer to the sizing chart  on the actual clothing package.
